Human Rights Day and Human Rights Week, 2016
President Obama proclaimed December 10, 2016 as Human Rights Day and the week beginning December 10, 2016 as Human Rights Week, calling on Americans to observe these occasions with appropriate ceremonies and activities. The proclamation reflects on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, acknowledges progress in human rights globally, and reaffirms commitment to combating discrimination against LGBT individuals, people with disabilities, immigrants, women and girls, and religious and ethnic minorities.
