National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, 2015
President Obama proclaimed January 2015 as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, culminating in National Freedom Day on February 1, 2015. The proclamation calls on businesses, organizations, families, and all Americans to recognize their role in ending modern-day slavery and to observe the month with programs and activities, but contains no binding policy directives, funding mechanisms, or agency mandates.
