Authorizing the Implementation of Certain Sanctions Set Forth in the Iran Threat Reduction and Syria Human Rights Act of 2012 and Additional Sanctions With Respect to Iran
This executive order authorizes the Treasury and State Departments to implement sanctions against persons and entities supporting Iran's government, particularly those involved in human rights abuses, censorship, and petroleum trade. It blocks U.S.-controlled foreign entities from transactions with Iran that would be prohibited if done domestically, with a divestment deadline, and amends prior sanctions orders.
Authorizing Additional Sanctions With Respect to Iran
This executive order authorizes additional U.S. sanctions targeting foreign financial institutions and persons that conduct significant transactions with Iran's petroleum, petrochemical, and energy sectors. It expands existing authorities to block property, restrict correspondent banking access, and impose trade and financial penalties on entities supporting Iran's oil industry or evading international sanctions.
Authorizing the Imposition of Certain Sanctions With Respect to the Provision of Goods, Services, Technology, or Support for Iran's Energy and Petrochemical Sectors
This executive order authorizes sanctions against individuals and entities that provide goods, services, technology, or support above specified dollar thresholds to Iran's petroleum development or petrochemical production sectors. The sanctions include blocking property, financial restrictions, export denial, and government procurement bans, and took effect immediately on November 21, 2011.
