Establishment of the Mojave Trails National Monument
President Obama established the Mojave Trails National Monument under the Antiquities Act, withdrawing approximately 1.6 million federal acres in California from mineral entry, mining, and geothermal leasing. The proclamation directs the Secretary of the Interior through BLM to manage the monument and prepare a management plan within 3 years, while preserving existing rights for utilities, grazing, military training, tribal access, and state wildlife jurisdiction.
