Continuation of the National Emergency With Respect to the Western Balkans
President Bush continued for one year the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13219 on June 26, 2001, regarding threats to peace and stabilization efforts in the Western Balkans region, including extremist violence and obstruction of the Dayton Accords, UN Security Council Resolution 1244, and the Ohrid Framework Agreement. The continuation was made under section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act, extending sanctions and emergency measures beyond their original expiration date of June 26, 2003.
