Continuation of the National Emergency With Respect to Iran

President Bush continued for one year the national emergency with respect to Iran originally declared by President Carter on November 14, 1979, under Executive Order 12170. The continuation is justified by ongoing abnormal U.S.-Iran relations and the incomplete implementation of the January 19, 1981, Algiers Accords agreements.
